Parish Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was held on the evening of 23rd December 2007 - and included choral works and congregational singing. Well known carols included O little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night, Away in a Manger, God rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen and, to conclude the service, O come all ye faithful. Choral works performed by the choir which were perhaps new to some of the congregation included A Babe is Born (words - Old English manuscript; music - F. Bainton), I saw a Maiden (words - 16th Century English; Music - Old Basque), How far is it to Bethlehem (Words - Frances Chesterton; Music - English Tad arr. Willcocks) and the Shepherds Pipe Carol (words & Music - John Rutter).
